Strengths
This is the kind of defender every coach wants on their roster. Paul is a smart, instinctive player who can win a rep between his ears before the ball is ever snapped. Adept at being in the right place before the ball gets there, Paul is quick to figure out what the offense is doing, and knows how to put himself and his teammates in position to make a play. He's got enough speed and toughness to fly downhill and make plays in the trenches against the run, and enough range and athleticism to match backs and tight ends in man coverage. He's comfortable finding his zone responsibilities and limiting yards after the catch, and he's a reliable tackler with consistent technique.

Weaknesses
Changing direction on a dime isn't Paul's strongest area, so the quickest of offensive skill players can make him miss in the hole or out in the open field. He leaves himself vulnerable to play-action passes and misdirection runs with over-pursuit, and his ability to disengage from offensive linemen at the second level is still a work in progress. Paul is a willing participant as an extra pass rusher in blitz packages, but he needs to improve his ability to beat blockers with his hands and better lower-body mechanics instead of just trying to run by or through them.

Final Analysis
Paul is a fairly well-rounded prospect who is above-average in just about every important aspect of playing the linebacker position. His three-down skill set, solid combination of mental and physical traits, and intangible qualities should make him a valuable leader in the locker room who can make an immediate impact at the next level.
