The 2025 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and we've got you covered with in-depth scouting reports on all of the top prospects at every position in this year's class.
Here's everything you need to know about Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron heading into the 2025 draft:
Height:5-11
Weight:200
Age:23
A versatile defensive weapon with the versatility and instincts to make a big impact all over the field, Barron is a stout defender who does his best work when lined up in the slot, where his intelligence and ball skills make him a constant headache for opposing offenses. He's shown the ability to line up on the outside and be effective, as well, and his knack for making splash plays when the ball comes his way makes him a dangerous presence no matter where he's aligned.
He uses his well-built frame to be an effective tackler in the run game, and he's able to limit yards after the catch. Barron is particularly dangerous to quarterbacks in zone coverage, where he's able to keep things in front of him, read, and react quickly to ruin the offense's plans.
If forced to stay on the outside full-time, Barron's lack of elite top-end speed and inconsistent footwork when making transitions to match routes in man coverage could limit his effectiveness. His physicality is a positive trait most of the time, but he can get a bit too handsy when trying to fight for positioning downfield and working through the catch point, which could lead to more penalties at the pro level.

He's best suited for slot work in zone-heavy schemes, but if put into position to maximize his best traits, Barron has all of the mental and physical skills to be a dynamic playmaker at the next level. Coaches will love his smarts, toughness and physicality, as well as his knack for creating big plays when the ball's in the air.
