We are just a few days removed from the Pittsburgh Steelers Week One win over the New York Jets and fan overreactions are in full swing. Whether it is good or bad, it is easy to take such a small sample size and just run with it like it's a lock for the rest of the season. This season has been no different. Here are the three biggest overreactions we've seen this week.
Kaleb Johnson is a bust
It might be a little premature to call rookie running back Kaleb Johnson a bust or a wasted draft pick. The Steelers drafted Johnson in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft because he was incredibly productive at Iowa. His development wasn't as fast as anticipated but his lack of carries on Sunday could be a direct result of his fumble on the kickoff return. We were surprised he stayed back there as the returner after the misstep. If this continues, we will worry for sure but one game as the third-string when the entire run game stunk isn't a huge worry.
The Steelers have to replace Broderick Jones
OK, so maybe this one isn't much of an overreaction. Jones was awful at left tackle, giving up three sacks, and looked lost. The move to the left was risky from the beginning, and nothing we saw in the offseason gave us the impression the move would work, but we are willing to give him another game to turn things around before Pittsburgh has to start making calls to trade for a new left tackle.
This is going to be Aaron Rodgers all season
No one is complaining that Aaron Rodgers made his Steelers debut after not playing in the preseason and threw four touchdown passes. It was great to see and he did it despite some fairly awful play by the Steelers offensive line. But if you think Rodgers will maintain this sort of pace all season long, you are sure to be disappointed.
