Last week the Pittsburgh Steelers found a way to break their two-game losing streak by beating the Indianapolis Colts . This week it doesn't get any easier as the Steelers now much travel to Los Angeles and take on the 6-3 Chargers . Los Angeles is led by quarterback Justin Herbert and their high-powered passing offense. If the Steelers want to get a second-straight win and cement their status among the top teams in the AFC, these five Steelers need to step up.
CB Brandin Echols
The Chargers utilize three wide receivers, and assuming wide receiver Keenan Allen plays, they will stress the Steelers' thin secondary. With Jalen Ramsey playing free safety full-time, it's going to be Brandin Echols as the team's nickel cornerback alongside Darius Slay and Joey Porter Jr. on the outside.
TE Jonnu Smith
Since the Steelers seem content to not only just have one viable wide receiver but not throw to the team's best pass-catching tight end, Jonnu Smith needs a big game to take some heat off the run game as well as wide receiver DK Metcalf .
RB Jaylen Warren
This season has not gone according to plan for Jaylen Warren. He only has one 100-yard rushing performance so far this season but if the Steelers want to keep the Chargers defense honest, Warren has to be the guy to power the run game against an undersized Chargers front seven.
G Spencer Anderson
Anderson is set to get the start with starting left guard Isaac Seumalo out with a pec injury. We love Anderson's versatility and how well he performs as the team's sixth offensive lineman in heavy sets. Now he needs to line up every snap show he can hold down the fort for the foreseeable future.
EDGE Alex Highsmith
The left side of the Chargers offensive line is a mess. Left tackle Joe Alt is out this week, so this should be a week to attack off the edge. Last week was a signature performance for Highsmith, but to quiet the critics, he needs another this week.
