Alabama football grabbed win No. 1 of its revenge tour with a 30-14 payback victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday, Oct. 4.
The Crimson Tide its 2024 season with a 9-4 record under then first-year coach Kalen DeBoer. Alabama suffered regular-season losses to Vanderbilt (Oct. 5), Tennessee (Oct. 19) and Oklahoma (Nov. 23), with an added postseason loss to Michigan (Dec. 31) in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
PAYBACK: Can Alabama football exact revenge after Vanderbilt field storm? Why history favors Crimson Tide
The 40-35 loss in 2024 at Vanderbilt is what kickstarted a criticized season for the Crimson Tide. Alabama couldn't contain Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia back then, but learned from its mistake this time around. Pavia's performance, where he went 21-for-36 passing for 198 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, as well as adding 12 carries for 58 yards on the ground, wasn't enough to sneak out a win at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Next up on the revenge tour is Tennessee. Alabama hopes to redeem its 24-17 road loss in 2024 when the Crimson Tide welcomes the Vols on Oct. 18.
After that, the last remaining revenge game on the schedule is Oklahoma. Alabama will need to make up for previous offensive ineptitude that resulted in a 24-3 loss in Norman. Alabama hosts the Sooners this time around Nov. 15.
But the revenge tour will have to wait another week. Alabama travels to face Missouri in Week 7 play at 11 a.m. CT on Oct. 11.
