The 2025 NFL Combine continued for the Oregon Ducks on Saturday, with senior wide receiver Tez Johnson hitting the field for some drills and getting his measurables taken.
While other Ducks like Derrick Harmon and Terrance Ferguson have solidified — and potentially improved — their draft stock this weekend in Indianapolis , Johnson's results were not exactly what he or pro scouts were looking for. His results weren't awful, but compared to the other receivers in the class, and coupled with his measurements, none of Johnson's combine results measure up.
NFL.com gives James a prospect grade of 6.23 (on an eight-point scale) which, according to NFL.com's rankings, means he will be a "will eventually be a starter."
While the running drills may not have been what Johnson wanted, he looked great in the pass-catching portion of the afternoon, looking dynamic and explosive when running in open space.
Here's a look at all of Johnson's numbers from the day:
Measurables
Height: 5-foot-9
Weight: 154 pounds
Hand Size: 9 inches
Arm Length: 29 3/8 inches
40-yard Dash
Time: 4.51 seconds
Rank at Position: 13th of 19 Players
It was a tough showing for Tez Johnson in the 40-yard dash, bettering his first attempt of 4.55 by just a little bit, turning in a 4.51. After hyping up his time earlier in the week, saying that fans shouldn't blink or they might miss it, this was a far worse score than expected. Especially at his size, fans wanted to see Johnson put up a better time.
The fastest time was Texas ' Matthew Golden at 4.30.
10-Yard Split
Official Split Time: 1.53 seconds
Rank at Position: 11th of 19 Players
The split shows a little bit of improvement for Johnson, which makes sense. It was apparent when watching him run that he got out of the blocks fast, but struggled to reach a top-end speed.
3-Cone Drill
Official Measurement: 6.65 seconds
Rank at Position: 1st of 12 players
While Johnson's 40-time wasn't as quick as he wanted, he absolutely showed out in the 3-cone drill, which measures quickness and agility more than straight-line speed. This makes total sense, seeing as what makes Tez special is his ability to make a defender miss in open space and dance his way to a touchdown, rather than outrun the opponent.
Vertical Jump
Official Measurement: 37.0"
Rank at Position: 16th of 37 players
Broad Jump
Official Measurement: 10'11"
Rank at Position: 4th of 32 players
