Bracketology update: Who ESPN thinks the Akron Zips could face in 2025 March Madness 🏀
March will roll in meekly like a lamb, but end in madness.
At the time of writing, ESPN’s bracketologist Joe Lunardi predicts the Akron Zips (22-6, 14-1 in Mid-American Conference) will land the No. 13 seed and face the Arizona Wildcats (18-9, 12-4 in the Big 12) in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in the South Regional.
The Zips found themselves in a similar spot in last year’s tournament as a No. 14 seed when they faced Creighton, the No. 3 seed, in the Midwest Regional.
The Zips will be looking to finish the Mid-American Conference regular season schedule strong. After suffering their first league loss against Ohio last Saturday, snapping a 14-game win streak, they returned to their winning ways Tuesday night securing a 87-82 win over the Ball State Cardinals.
Remaining games on the Akron schedule include Kent State (Friday), their rival and a team that has seemed to have found its moorings after a rocky start, Toledo on March 4 and the regular season finale against Buffalo on March 7.
The 2025 MAC Tournament will be held at Rocket Arena March 12-15.
