The Denver Broncos are bringing in a familiar face at fullback.
The Broncos are set to sign veteran Adam Prentice , according to KPRC-TV's Aaron Wilson . Denver needed to add a fullback following two injuries at the position.
Prentice (6-0, 245 pounds) started his college career at Colorado State and played his final college season at South Carolina in 2020 before signing with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2021. After failing to make Denver's 53-man roster, Prentice landed with the New Orleans Saints , who were coached by Sean Payton at the time.
Prentice now reunites with Payton, and he has a decent shot to make the Broncos' Week 1 roster. Michael Burton , the team's primary fullback, is sidelined with a hamstring injury that could linger into the regular season. Nate Adkins , a tight end/fullback hybrid, is also sidelined after undergoing an ankle procedure . Payton has confirmed Akdins will miss the start of the regular season.
So Prentice, who has picked up eight first downs on 17 career touches, has a short-term opportunity to take over Denver's fullback duties. After spending the last four seasons with the Saints , Prentice is back with the Broncos.
