ATLANTA — Clemson football quarterback Cade Klubnik needed to spark the Tigers' offense vs. Georgia Tech .
Klubnik had highs and lows in No. 11 Clemson's 24-21 loss vs. Georgia Tech on Sept. 13 at Bobby Dodd Stadium. His best moments included scoring two touchdownss for Clemson (1-2), and his worst were turnovers.
Here's a quick rundown of Klubnik's performance against Georgia Tech (3-0).
Cade Klubnik 's stats
Klubnik was 15-of-26 passing for 207 yards, one touchdown and an interception. He also rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown on 17 attempts.
Klubnik's best: Using his legs
Klubnik entered Week 3 with minus-3 yards rushing. His mobility shined against Georgia Tech, rushing for 62 yards and leading Clemson in attempts against Georgia Tech.
He was opportunistic with his legs, converting third downs and putting Clemson in favorable downs and distances. Klubnik's running helped running back Adam Randall and the rest of the team's running backs establish the run.
Klubnik's worst: Turnovers
Klubnik had two costly turnovers against Georgia Tech: a fumble in the first quarter and an interception in the third. He has committed a turnover in each game this season, a steep regression from last year.
On the fumble, Klubnik converted a first down, then a Georgia Tech player jarred the ball loose. On the interception, he was eyeing wide receiver T.J. Moore , but a Georgia Tech defensive back watched his eyes and leaped for the ball at the line of scrimmage to intercept the pass.
Grade: C+
It was another inconsistent performance for Klubnik, who entered the season as a Heisman contender. The offense was disjointed at times, but his turnovers contributed to that.
Klubnik led a game-tying touchdown drive in the fourth quarter, but his early struggles contributed to Clemson's upset loss.
