With the Colts leading 7‑0, the Chiefs converted a second-down play and put Travis Kelce in on a wildcat option. Kelce took the snap and appeared to score a touchdown, but officials flagged the play for a facemask penalty on right tackle Jawaan Taylor , nullifying the score.

Replays showed Taylor’s hand on the side of Colts defensive lineman Kwity Paye ’s helmet, but there was no clear evidence of a facemask grasp.

Chiefs fans immediately reacted on social media, expressing frustration at the call.
