CLEMSON — Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney said o Aug. 31 he doesn't know the status of wide receiver Antonio Williams ' injury.
"He couldn't return, so obviously that was a big loss for us, but we had plenty of opportunities, and we didn't capitalize," Swinney said after No. 6 Clemson's 17-10 loss to No. 9 LSU on Aug. 30.
Williams exited with a hamstring injury after two drives in the first quarter, according to ESPN. He went to the team's medical tent then the locker room. He returned to the sideline without his helmet and used the stationary bike but never re-entered the game.
Tyler Brown , who attended Greenville High School, replaced Williams and had four receptions for 43 yards. Williams led Clemson in receiving yards, receptions and receiving touchdowns in 2024. He did not miss a game last season after playing in only five games in 2023 because of lower-body injuries.
Swinney said he is confident in Clemson's depth − including Bryant Wesco Jr. , T.J. Moore , Cole Turner , Tristan Smith and Brown − if Williams misses extended time.
Clemson will host Troy, a Group of 5 program, on Sept. 6 (3:30 p.m. ET, ACC Network) at Memorial Stadium.
