CLEMSON — Clemson football is unranked and receiving zero votes in the US LBM Coaches Poll released on Sept. 21.
The Tigers (1-3, 0-2 ACC) are off to their worst start in 21 years after losing 34-21 to Syracuse (3-1, 1-0) on Sept. 20 at Memorial Stadium. With eight games left in the regular season, Clemson looks to extend its 14-year streak of winning nine or more games, which is tied for the third-longest streak in major college football history. The Tigers have an open date in Week 5 before traveling to face UNC on Oct. 4 at Kenan Memorial Stadium.
Three ACC schools are ranked: No. 6 Miami, No. 8 FSU and No. 17 Georgia Tech . ACC teams that did not make the coaches top 25 poll, but received votes, were Louisville (67 points) and Syracuse (4).
Ohio State remained to No. 1 in the poll, earning 1,667 points and 61 first-place votes, and Penn State stayed at No. 2 with three first-place votes. No. 3 Georgia, No. 5 Oregon and Miami all received one first-place vote too.
The weekly poll is voted on by a panel of coaches chosen by random draw. Voters submit a top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place worth 24, and so on down to one point for 25th, according to USA TODAY Sports.
