Some of the Week 10 games penciled in the preseason as marquee matchups have lost quite a bit of their luster as the season has unfolded.
Penn State at Ohio State was a matchup between the preseason No. 2 and 3 teams in the country. While the Buckeyes have ascended to the No. 1 spot, the Nittany Lions have dropped out of the rankings entirely ( and fired their head coach ).
The same can be said for the Florida-Georgia game — or the Georgia-Florida game, depending on your perspective. Though still a heated rivalry, that preseason top-15 matchup is now between the No. 5 Bulldogs and an unranked Gators team... that also fired its head coach .
Even South Carolina against Ole Miss was supposed to have huge ramifications in the SEC race. But the Gamecocks have plummeted out of the top 25, while the Rebels have ascended to No. 7.
But fear not, because other games on the schedule have taken on newfound importance that were not foreseen before the season began. No. 9 Vanderbilt can knock No. 20 Texas out of College Football Playoff contention this weekend. The Commodores are rolling while the Longhorns, the preseason No. 1 team in the country, have escaped in overtime in back-to-back games.
Over in the Big 12, No. 17 Cincinnati has emerged as a potential CFP team ahead of a huge road trip to No. 24 Utah. Even No. 15 Virginia's cross-country trip to Cal has taken on new meaning as the Cavaliers have rolled through their ACC schedule, though they've won their last four games by one possession.

Week 10 College Football Best Bets
Steven Lassan:No. 23 USC vs. Nebraska - Nebraska +6.5
USC's offense against Nebraska's standout secondary should be a must-see matchup on Saturday night. The Cornhuskers need quarterback Dylan Raiola to play better after an inconsistent stretch, but with this game in Lincoln, along with a secondary that can limit damage through the air, I think coach Matt Rhule's team can at least cover the 6.5 spread.
Thomas Neumann:No. 15 Virginia vs. Cal — Cal +4.5
Virginia has been flirting with disaster of late, with three overtime wins and a two-point victory in its past four games. Now comes a brutal cross-country slog to Berkeley. Look for frosh phenom Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele and the Bears to bounce back after last week's double-OT loss at Virginia Tech. Engage the #Calgorithm
Kyle Wood:No. 5 Georgia vs. Florida — Georgia -7.5
The Bulldogs, who have dominated the Gators for the past decade and again established themselves as one of the best teams in the country, are barely a touchdown-favorite this Saturday in Jacksonville. Georgia has won the last four meetings by at least 14 points, and Florida carries a losing record heading into this game for the first time since 2017. Maybe the Gators comes out of the gates fired up with interim coach Billy Gonzales in charge, but it's hard to see this one being close.
