The Blue Jackets activated forward Yegor Chinakhov from injured reserve and he will play Tuesday night at the Tampa Bay Lightning .
Cole Sillinger , who missed Saturday's NHL Stadium Series outdoor game with an upper-body injury, was placed on IR to create a roster spot. Chinakhov missed 39 games with an unspecified back injury after contributing seven goals, seven assists and 14 points in the season's first 21 games.
Chinakhov will skate at left wing on a second line that has captain Boone Jenner at center and Kent Johnson at right wing. James van Riemsdyk , who played left wing for that line the past three games, will shift to the same side on center Sean Kuraly's fourth line.
The Blue Jackets hold the first wild-card spot in the NHL's Eastern Conference going into the game against the Lighting at Amalie Arena (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network, ESPN+; 97.1 FM The Fan).
