Cowboys cut preseason star WR who is expected to quickly land with new team originally appeared on The Sporting News
In the end, the Dallas Cowboys couldn't find a way to keep Traeshon Holden around.
The former Oregon star had done his part this preseason, showing impressive talent, but the Cowboys waived him on Tuesday anyway, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz .
Schultz writes that there should be "strong interest" in Holden on the waiver wire.
"Cowboys liked Traeshon Holden and he was in play until the very end for their final receiver spot," Schultz added on X.
Holden chimed in with his own post on social media shortly after the news came out:

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer had said great things about Holden earlier in the preseason:
"He shows up every day. He really does. Every day, he makes a play... That's a guy you're going to continue to see moving up the depth chart."
Holden began his college career at Alabama and spent three seasons with the Crimson Tide, putting up a total of 46 catches, 570 yards and seven TDs as mostly a depth player.
He moved on to Oregon for his final two college seasons and blossomed with the Ducks.
In 2023, Holden had 37 catches for 452 yards and six scores.
Then in 2024, Holden went for 45 grabs, 718 yards and five more TDs.

At 6-foot-3, 208 pounds, Holden looks the part.
He runs a 4.57-second 40-yard dash, which isn't great but is fine for a bigger-bodied receiver.
The Cowboys chose not to keep him around, though, and so Holden will probably get a chance to go elsewhere and potentially prove Dallas wrong.
