Do Alabama football defensive backs Bray Hubbard and Keon Sabb make up the best safety duo in college football? Hubbard didn't hesitate at all to answer.
"For sure," he said. "For sure."
The numbers seem to back it up.
Hubbard and Sabb share three of Alabama 's four team interceptions through five games. Each also has a pass deflection while combining for 41 tackles.
Hubbard knew Sabb's interception was coming. After Hubbard's two-interception game against Wisconsin , he put it out into the college football universe that something similar would happen for Sabb against Vanderbilt.
"I was like, 'Dude, I'm telling you. These interceptions and takeaways, it gets contagious,'" Hubbard said. "And he came up to me and was like, 'Dude, you were right.'"
Finishing Alabama 's 30-14 win against Vanderbilt with an interception and a pass deflection, Sabb, Hubbard said, "just stays consistent."
"I can't say it enough," Hubbard said.T"hat guy comes in every day just ready to go. I mean, always the same effort, everything. I honestly can't say enough about him. He just stays consistent throughout the game."
And Hubbard can't ask for a better tandem in the defensive backfield.
"We do a great job together of communicating and doing what we got to do to stop the pass game," Hubbard said.
Alabama will face Missouri at 11 a.m. CT Saturday, Oct. 7 on ABC.
