The Detroit Lions might have another defensive injury one day into NFL training camp practice.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. , a second-year cornerback, left practice Sunday, July 20, in Allen Park and is "being evaluated for a chest injury. He walked off with trainers with about a half hour left in practice," wrote Free Press reporter Dave Birkett on social media.
Rakestraw, drafted late in the second round in 2024 at No. 61 overall, had an injury-riddled rookie season. He said in the offseason criticism of him "really just fuels me."

He's the latest second-round pick by general manager Brad Holmes to suffer from injuries. Levi Onwuzurike (2021) was just ruled out for the season and Josh Paschal (2022) is out into September. Both have been injury prone.
