Former UNC basketball star notches triple-double in NBA G League action Tuesday night
Anyone miss Harrison Ingram in Chapel Hill this year? I know I sure did, as the North Carolina Tar Heels were in desperate need of consistent production from their post players.
Ingram only spent one year at UNC , but he delivered an instant impact as a well-rounded player, averaging a career-best 12.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Ingram showcased the ability to deliver thunderous dunks, pull down rebounds against any opponent, step out and nail 3-pointers and stay with his defender for an entire possession.
The NBA has plenty of room for players with Ingram's skillset, which is why the San Antonio Spurs took him 48th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft . Ingram is now polishing his game in the G League, though, a decision which appears to be paying off.
On Tuesday during the Austin Spurs' dominant, 130-93 playoff-clinching win over the Memphis Hustle, Ingram recorded his first career triple-double. Ingram achieved the feat by scoring 17 points, grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds and dishing out a game-high 10 assists.
Ingram played power forward during North Carolina's 2023-2024 campaign, helping lead his team to a top seed and Sweet 16 berth in the NCAA Tournament, playing alongside the likes of Armando Bacot and RJ Davis . That Tar Heels squad was one of my favorite to watch, as players showed immense chemistry and almost always smiled.
With Ingram's Tuesday night performance and how young San Antonio 's roster is (just three players over 30), don't be surprised to see an NBA call-up in the near future. Ingram previously played in just three games for the NBA Spurs this season, scoring his lone two points against the Charlotte Hornets on March 14.
