When you hear the name Mack Hollins , what are some of the first things that come to your mind? Is it his football skills? Electric personality? Trash-talking ability?
Hollins, the former North Carolina Tar Heel who became known outside of games for walking barefoot everywhere he goes, is a journeyman wide receiver who produces at every stop. Since the reigning Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles took Hollins in the fourth round in the 2017 NFL Draft, Hollins has also played for the Miami Dolphins , Las Vegas Raiders , Atlanta Falcons , and Buffalo Bills.
You can add a sixth team to Hollins' extensive NFL journey, as Hollins agreed to a 2-year deal with the New England Patriots on Monday, March 10.
Not only does Hollins give New England another weapon in its young receiving corps, but he joins quarterback Drake Maye as another UNC football standout on the roster. Hollins and Maye never played together, but they're about to be teammates for the next two seasons.
Hollins walked on to the North Carolina football program, playing in Chapel Hill from 2014-2016. Hollins helped the Tar Heels capture the 2015 ACC Coastal Division title, but he went 0-3 in bowl tries.
The 2024-2025 NFL saw Hollins team up with reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen , a pairing that helped Hollins enjoy a bounce-back season. Hollins set a career-high with five receiving touchdowns, plus a sixth coming in the AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Can Hollins and Maye form immediate chemistry up in Gillette Stadium? New England fans are desperate for a winning football team, something I never thought I'd be saying, with both former Tar Heels proving they can win – and produce – at any level.
