The Atlanta Falcons ended one of the more intriguing streaks in NFL history. During the common draft era (since 1967), the Falcons had not drafted a Georgia Bulldogs player in the first-round. However, that changed in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft when Atlanta drafted Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker with the No. 15 pick.
Walker will provide an immediate boost to the Falcons' woeful pass rush. Atlanta has not had a player record more than 10 sacks since Vic Beasley posted 15 1/2 sacks in 2016. Last season, the Falcons recorded only 31 sacks, which ranked second-to-last in the NFL.
Numerous Georgia fans are also Falcons fans. Georgia fans have the thrill of winning back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022. The Falcons have never won a Super Bowl and have seemingly always passed on Georgia players in the draft. The good news is at least one of those two things changed on Thursday night.

Jalon Walker brings versatility to the Falcons. He can be both an off-ball linebacker and a pass rusher. Walker has excellent speed and physicality. He drew praise from former Alabama coach Nick Saban.
"I think this guy's going to be an outstanding player in Atlanta," said Saban.
