The Georgia Bulldogs extended offensive coordinator Mike Bobo for another year before the 2024 college football season, according to the Athens Banner-Herald . Bobo is under contract through 2026 and is set to make just over $1.5 million in 2025 and will make $1.6 million in 2026.
This offseason, various different narratives surrounding Bobo have emerged. In January, Bobo was rumored to be stepping down, but obviously that did not happen. Recently, Paul Finebaum criticized Bobo , who is not exactly a fan favorite among the Bulldog faithful.
"I frankly believe Georgia's problem is at the offensive coordinator's position," Finebaum said on 680 The Fan. "I think Kirby Smart, for as great as I believe he is and I know you guys agree, is being way too loyal to Mike Bobo, and I would get rid of Bobo today."
Kirby Smart has not gotten rid of Mike Bobo and the new-look Georgia offense is preparing for the start of spring practice with quarterback Gunner Stockton expected to start. Mike Bobo's extension was not previously reported until March 6, 2025, so it appears that the Bulldogs will be moving forward with Bobo for the forseeable future.
How did Georgia Bulldogs fans and more react following the news?
"Pay that man," said one Florida Gators fan via social media . Of course, Bobo is 3-0 against Florida since returning to UGA. The Bulldogs have averaged 39.7 points per game in their wins over the Gators.
"I'll give him half the season without (Carson) Beck to make my judgement," said one fan on social media. Beck transferred to the Miami Hurricanes this offseason.
"The offense will be great this year. Bobo will get to silence some folks," said one UGA fan . "The WR additions, returning RB room (please stay healthy), and a more experienced OL may be the difference. Gunner will be the reason!"
We have to disagree with this take. Yes, Georgia added talent at receiver and returns running back Nate Frazier, but the Bulldogs lost four of their five starters along the offensive line. Georgia is not going to have a more experienced offensive line in 2025.
"Let's see what Georgia's offense does in 2025. If it has improved, then maybe we calm down some," offered one fan. "If it has the same problems showing up like in 2024, then we might need to be looking at other options to replace Bobo." This sounds like a reasonable thought. Georgia has high expectations and if the offense further declines, then we'd be surprised if Bobo coaches for UGA in 2026.
Georgia offense is coming off a down year
Georgia's spring practice begins on March 11, so Dawg fans should expect for Kirby Smart to speak to the media soon to update the status of Bobo and more.
