Hugh Freeze Extends Scholarship to Auburn Football Player in Heartwarming Moment originally appeared on Athlon Sports .
The Auburn Tigers have begun their fall camp like many college football programs around the country.
Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze ended a team meeting with a special moment for one of his players. After what looked like a player introduction for second-year receiver Cam'Ron King turned into a life-changing experience.
Freeze asked King simple questions at first, who the receiver's hero was, and the hometown of the player.
The team gave King a round of applause, and before he headed back to his seat, Freeze called him over and awarded the receiver a scholarship.
"I know your teammates love you, and they're proud of you, and they're thankful for you," Freeze said. "So, give Cam'Ron King a hand. Hey Cam'Ron? One more thing, come here. Today, you're no longer a walk-on, you're on scholarship."

King was an unrated prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings for the 2024 class and is a native of Ocala, Florida.
The Tigers were his only Power 4 offer alongside the Purdue Boilermakers . He also had interest from the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers , Georgia Southern Eagles, Charlotte 49ers , Florida Atlantic Owls , Navy Midshipmen and Liberty Flames.
He saw playing time as a true freshman in one game against Alabama A&M last season. The Tigers went on to win that game 73-3.
Auburn enters its third season under Freeze in 2025, and expectations are high for the program. College football fans were shocked to see Auburn missing from the USA TODAY Preseason Coaches Poll .
Recruiting has been consistent in the Freeze era until recently. Auburn has had top-10 classes in 2024 and 2025 on On3 Sports, but its 2026 class now ranks 56th overall.
However, a flip was predicted to happen in favor of the Tigers recently. UNLV commit and brother of former Texas Longhorns defensive lineman Vernon Broughton , Isaiah , was predicted to flip from UNLV to Auburn.
Moments like this are what college football is all about.
