Ohio State has landed a commitment from Indiana transfer guard Gabe Cupps .
After two seasons with the Hoosiers, Cupps will likely have three years of eligibility remaining after playing only four games this year due to injury. Eligibile for a medical redshirt after undergoing knee surgery, he is a Centerville, Ohio, native who averaged 2.6 points as a freshman with the Hoosiers.
Cupps had Ohio State as a finalist out of high school before signing with Indiana along with Stanford.
The 6-2, 180-pound Cupps was a four-star prospect ranked No. 94 in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports.com composite. As a freshman, Cupps started 22 of Indiana's 33 games and averaged 2.6 points while playing 21.7 minutes per game in 2023-24. He was one of five Big Ten freshmen to start at least 20 games in 2023-24.
With his commitment, Ohio State now has landed or is in the process of landing five straight Ohio Mr. Basketball winners. The run started with Malaki Branham in 2021, then continues with Cupps, Devin Royal (2023), Colin White (2024) and Marcus Johnson, who won it this year and has one more year of high school remaining .
He is the first player to commit to Ohio State in the transfer portal this offseason .
