Jordon Davison wins Ducks Wire Player of the Game after 3-TD performance in Week 1
The Oregon Ducks are finally back, and after their dismantling of the Montana State Bobcats , it looks like they’re out for vengeance. The Ducks suffered a crushing defeat in the Rose Bowl last season, but it’s clear Dan Lanning wanted to send a message to the nation that his team isn’t going anywhere.
The 59-13 demolition of the Bobcats featured an impressive showing from nearly the entire roster. It’s difficult to choose a Player of the Game in a contest where not a single Duck had a negative performance, but there was one member of the team who shined just a little bit brighter.
True freshman running back Jordon Davison carried the offensive heavy lifting in the red zone today, scoring all three of his touchdowns inside the 10-yard line. He didn’t get the ball much today, but when he did, he made the most of his opportunities by bulldozing defenders and willing his way into the end zone.
He finished with six carries for 26 yards and three touchdowns.
Davison’s last score of the game was arguably the most impressive. After the Ducks were stuffed three plays in a row on the goal line, Lanning inserted Davison and watched him power through the line of scrimmage for the score.
The 46-point victory for the Ducks was one of the most lopsided scores of the week, and Davison played a major role in it. If he continues to rack up the touchdowns at this rate, then he could find himself in a much bigger role within the Ducks’ offense.
