The wide receiver class eligible for the 2026 NFL Draft hasn't gotten the kind of hype we've seen from from that position group over the last couple of years, but Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson is doing everything he can to remedy that.
Already one of the favorites to be the top receiver prospect in this class , Tyson's hot start to the 2025 college football season is confirming the preseason hype, and his playmaking ability has to be getting NFL scouts and offensive coaches out of their seats.
The latest example of Tyson's big-play skill set came Saturday night against Texas State, when he made this ridiculous catch-and-run score:
There's something to be said for the impressive off-platform throw from Sun Devils quarterback Sam Leavitt, but Tyson's ridiculous body control, awareness, instincts and explosiveness took this play from an unlikely chain-mover to an eye-popping touchdown in the blink of an eye.
Listed at 6-2, 200 pounds, Tyson has an NFL-ready frame, and the complete skill set pro scouts are always looking for in a potential WR1. His route-running prowess was also on display against the Bobcats on Saturday night, as Tyson created consistent separation with fluid technique and short-area quickness like this:
As a freshman at Colorado, Tyson showed off his big-play potential despite limited opportunities, turning his 22 receptions into 470 yards and four touchdowns, averaging a whopping 21.7 yards per catch. He exploded as a full-time starter after transferring to ASU last year, hauling in 75 passes for 1,101 yards and 10 scores.
Through the first three games of the 2025 season, Tyson has picked up right where he left off, turning 24 receptions into 314 yards and four touchdowns, finding the end zone in every game so far.
Tyson will have some worthy challengers for the title of WR1 in the 2026 draft class (Washington's Denzel Boston, Ohio State's Carnell Tate, Clemson's Antonio Williams ), but through the first few weeks of the season, Tyson is the one who continues to jump off the screen most consistently.
If he can continue to show off this kind of complete skill set, and deliver more highlight-reel plays like the one we saw Saturday night, don't be surprised if Tyson is the first pass-catcher off the board when next April rolls around.
