No. 15 Tennessee (2-1, 0-1 SEC) suffered its first loss of the 2025 football season on Saturday. No. 3 Georgia (3-0, 1-0 SEC) defeated the Vols, 44-41 in overtime, at Neyland Stadium .
Fifth-year Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel recapped the Week 3 contest after the game.
"Got to give Georgia credit for finishing it the way that you need to win that game," Heupel said. "Our players, man, Iove the fight, the strain, the willingness to keep bowing and playing the next play. They played physical, they played hard. End of the day, coaches and players got to be a little bit better to win that football game, and tonight it's going to hurt, and we need to drink all that in and taste all of it, because if we are going to move forward and be the team we're capable of, this feeling tonight has got to be a part of what continues to propel us and the urgency and the focus in everything that we do.
"I told them after the game, I love the competition part of it. The competitive composure, continuing to compete, we just got to be a little bit better together, players and coaches. Our fans today were awesome. Everything about it, so I appreciate them a bunch. Sorry and disappointed we didn't finish it out and get a win for them."
