Another reunion with a veteran is in order for the Los Angeles Chargers this offseason. They just hope this one lasts a bit longer than their previous attempt.
The Chargers agreed to terms with 12-year veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen on a one-year deal, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport . The terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
The news of Allen's signing comes five months after Los Angeles re-signed veteran Mike Williams – one year after it had released him – and less than one month after Williams announced he was retiring .
Allen, whom the Chargers initially drafted with a third-round pick in 2013, spent 11 seasons with his original team before it traded him to the Chicago Bears last year. Allen hit free agency this offseason after his one season in Chicago and had remained unsigned until Tuesday.
In his first stint with the Chargers, Allen compiled six 1,000-yard seasons – including three straight between 2017 and 2019 – and earned six Pro Bowl nods.
Allen caught 70 passes for 744 yards and seven touchdowns with the Bears in 15 games last year. His yardage total marked a career low when excluding injury-shortened seasons in 2015 and 2016.
