Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis will miss the team's next two games with an injury, the team announced Friday. Davis sustained the injury — a low grade calf strain — during the first quarter of Wednesday's 107-105 win over the Indiana Pacers . The Mavs are set to play the Detroit Pistons on Saturday in Mexico City before traveling to Houston to play the Rockets on Monday night. AD will then be re-evaluated ahead of Wednesday's game at home against the New Orleans Pelicans .

Davis was initially listed as probable on the NBA injury report before getting upgraded to available for Wednesday's contest. He ended up suffering an injury in the first quarter and was held out for the remainder of the game.
Both Jason Kidd and Anthony Davis have referred to the issue as "day-to-day."
"It is going to be day to day," Davis said , via ESPN. "But I feel better that is for sure."
The Mavericks star does not currently have an official timeline for a return. As mentioned, he will be re-evaluated following the team's current two-game road trip. If there are no setbacks, he could return sooner rather than later. With that being said, the Mavericks will proceed with extreme caution given Davis' injury history.

Through five games played — although the fifth saw him on the floor for just a few minutes — Davis has averaged 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per outing. The Mavericks have endured an inconsistent start to the year, as they will enter Saturday's matchup with a 2-3 overall record.
We will continue to monitor and provide updates on Anthony Davis ' injury status as they are made available.
