In a recent video posted by Swish Cultures to X, formerly known as Twitter, the Dallas Mavericks guard was seen in an open gym run drilling shots from all over the floor. The 14-year veteran displayed his signature jumper with a series of catch-and-shoot threes, dribble pull-ups, and step-backs from deep. Thompson also mixed in midrange fadeaways, drives to the rim, and several playmaking sequences.

Thompson, 35, is preparing for his second season in Dallas after signing a three-year, $50 million contract in the 2024 offseason . He appeared in 72 games last season, averaging 14 points, 3.4 rebounds, and two assists per contest. He shot 41.2% from the field and 39.1% from three across 27.3 minutes per game.

The five-time All-Star joined a Mavericks team undergoing significant transition following its 2024 NBA Finals appearance. Last season, Dallas failed to qualify for the playoffs after trading franchise cornerstone Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis . The move signaled a shift toward a new core, which now includes top draft pick Cooper Flagg and veteran guard D'Angelo Russell, who signed with the team this offseason.

Russell's arrival provides backcourt depth as Kyrie Irving continues to recover from a torn ACL suffered in March. With Irving's return timeline still uncertain, Thompson's shot-making and veteran presence could prove critical for a team looking to return to contention.
Though past his prime, Thompson remains a lethal shooter capable of heating up quickly, and the recent footage suggests his form remains intact heading into the 2025–26 campaign. The Mavericks are expected to rely on his experience and floor spacing as the franchise integrates its younger talent and navigates the early part of the season without Irving.
Klay Thompson, who spent the first 13 seasons of his career with the Golden State Warriors , enters the year with 1,023 career games played including playoffs. He ranks among the NBA's all-time leaders in three-point field goals made and has four championship rings to his name.
The Mavericks open training camp in early October with preseason action expected to begin shortly after.
