USC 's King Miller is just the latest example. He came to South California as a walk-on, and he hasn't yet been given a scholarship a year later. But on Saturday night, Miller was the hero in the Trojans' win over Michigan .

Injuries had USC deep down the RB depth chart, and Miller got the call.

He ran for 158 yards and a touchdown. His rushing TD made him the first walk-on to score a touchdown for USC since 1994, according to the Associated Press .

The odds of this simply weren't high at all. Miller made the most of his chance.

Miller is from Calabasas High School in California.

His twin brother, Kaylon, is an offensive lineman for USC. Their cousin, Olaijah Griffin , played cornerback for the Trojans from 2018-2020.

All told, it's clear King had some reason to believe in his potential.

But at the same time, USC hasn't given him a scholarship (although if the Trojans have a free one, now could be a good time).

USC is now 5-1, including 3-1 in Big Ten play.

The Trojans will want to get their RBs back for the stretch run.

But for now, USC has at least a temporary answer with King Miller. And he keeps this up, his name will definitely give him a chance at some popularity.
