Kevin Porter Jr. is re-signing with the Milwaukee Bucks , as his agent announced June 30 on ESPN that the 25-year-old agreed to a 2-year deal. The second season is a player option and the Journal Sentinel learned the total deal is worth $10.5 million, per a league source with knowledge of the agreement.
The Bucks used their bi-annual exception of $5.1 million for the the 2025-26 season.
Porter became an unrestricted free agent after he declined his $2.5 million player option on a deal he originally signed with the Los Angeles Clippers in the summer of 2024. The guard played 45 games for the Clippers before being traded to the Bucks in February, and he provided a spark on both ends of the court for Milwaukee over the final 30 games of the regular season.
Porter averaged about 20 minutes per game with the Bucks, shooting 40.8% from behind the 3-point line and 49.4% overall while averaging 11.7 points per game.
In totality, Porter shot 31% from distance and 44% over the entire season in his return to the NBA after he spent the 2023-24 season out of the league due in large part to an alleged domestic violence assault in 2023. The legal elements of that case were concluded by the time the Bucks traded for him and his criminal record was cleared.
Originally the No. 30 pick in the 2019 draft by the Bucks, Porter was immediately traded to Detroit , and then immediately traded to Cleveland before his rookie year. Traded to Houston after his rookie season, Porter averaged 19.2 points per game for the Rockets in 2022-23. He earned a 4-year contract extension that could have been worth up to $82.5 million, but he received only the guaranteed part of it ($15.8 million) after being traded to Oklahoma City and immediately waived before the 2023 season.
