The Minnesota Twins are currently for sale , and the Pohlad family has tried to share a line of poverty when it comes to the bottom line for years. Certainly the franchise was impacted by the changes to the television landscape , but owning a baseball team remains ridiculously lucrative.
As the sport has evolved different revenue streams have opened up. Although ownership hasn't invested in the 47-49 baseball team during the past couple of seasons, we have seen plenty of new partners join the fray.
As franchises across the league have adopted jersey sleeve sponsors, it has been a bit odd to see Minnesota wait out their choices. That reality is no longer.

Securian Financial selected as MN Twins jersey patch sponsor
There are a boatload of sizable corporations with ties to Minnesota, and plenty of them reside in downtown Minneapolis. The Minnesota Twins have likely been hawking the add space on their uniform sleeve for some time now, and Securian Financial has stepped up.
"Throughout Twins history we've worn many different patches. The represent milestones, celebrations, big moments, and partnership. For Minneapolis and St. Paul, two brands unite for all of Twins Territory. Today, the Minnesota Twins and Securian Financial are proud to announce a new patch partnership. A part of Minnesota Twins history."
The choosing of Securian Financial is interesting. It is not known when the deal came together, but it's unlikely that it happened quickly. It's interesting because the local based financial services group was reportedly in discussions to put their name on the Minnesota Wild hockey arena.
Ultimately the Xcel Energy Center will become Grand Casino Arena for the upcoming season. Securian Financial may have been working with both teams in order to secure partnerships, or they could have pivoted after one started to make more sense.
At any rate, for the first time in franchise history, the Minnesota Twins will have a uniform sponsor. It is something we have seen take off around the league, and will now become commonplace on the pitcher-facing sleeve for each player.

Target is a prominent sponsor of the Minnesota Twins, but they might have been tapped out or unconsidered for this situation. After all, a bullseye sleeve patch may not have been the best sign for opposing pitchers.
No mention of a debut date was made during the MN Twins introduction video, but it stands to reason the sleeve patch will be present when the team takes the field Friday night in Colorado against the Rockies. The Twins are looking to get back to, and above .500, before the trade deadline in hopes of acting as a contender.
