With the preseason now in the rearview mirror and the Minnesota Vikings looking ahead to a Week 1 matchup with the Chicago Bears , Tuesday was the day to set the 53-man roster. As is the case with most teams, Kevin O'Connell and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah had a bunch of roster moves to make.
There were a few spots already determined prior to Tuesday's deadline day. There were also some surprises along the way.
Now the dust has settled and the MN Vikings have their first iteration of the 2025 53-man roster. A whopping seven undrafted free agents will be sticking around.

Bold – Starter* – Undrafted FA
The expected talents are all here and accounted for. Of course that's not really a surprise and shouldn't be the story. Max Brosmer is joined by guard Joe Huber as the lone undrafted free agents to make the 53-man roster on offense. Rookie tight end Gavin Bartholomew appears as though he'll miss the season with a back injury. Ben Yurosek gets that roster spot instead.
Minnesota kept four running backs, including Ty Chandler, after placing C.J. Ham on injured reserve (with a designation to return). It's likely that move that provided an opportunity for Chandler to squeak in . Currently suspended , Jordan Addison is not on the 53-man roster as Tim Jones grabs a spot.
Brosmer diced up opposing defenses throughout the preseason. He was so good that he had once local insider suggesting he could be the backup quarterback as well. Despite the offensive line overhaul , Joe Huber worked his way into a stout group and sticks around.
We'll see if this is the receiver room that Minnesota is going to start the season with. As things stand, it leaves plenty to be desired. The Carolina Panthers set their 53-man roster with Adam Thielen still on it . That changes when Jordan Addison returns from his suspension , and Jalen Nailor gets healthy . Myles Price sticks on the roster and can be used in the return game as well.
If the Vikings are going to capitalize on what is expected to be a strong season , then they'll need the talented veterans to shoulder the load.

Bold – Starter* – Undrafted FA
Minnesota didn't just keep a pair of undrafted free agents on offense. They did so on defense as well. Chaz Chambliss made the roster while Gabriel Murphy wound up being a shocking cut . It's likely that his contributions on special teams are the difference. Austin Keys joined him as an undrafted free agent among the linebacker room.
Elijah Williams also sticks around and can learn from some of the best to do it on the defensive line. Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen need to be healthy this year. If they are, then the Minnesota Vikings will have hit big on their free agent acquisitions.
The strength of the defense is definitely the front seven . The cornerback position seems to leave something to be desired. Minnesota may have reason to make a move their prior to their Week 1 contest in Chicago .
Now with time to tighten things up before the regular season kicks off, this is the group Kevin O'Connell is set to lead. Minnesota opens Week 1 on the road against the Chicago Bears . Monday Night Football, in primetime on September 8 , is the date to circle.
