During a recent episode of "The Basketball Society Podcast," NBA insider Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson tried to incite a Michael Jordan versus LeBron James debate by saying that LeBron still has a chance to win two NBA titles before he retires, whether it's in Los Angeles or elsewhere.
Jordan's former Chicago Bulls teammate, Ron Harper , caught wind of "Scoop B's" comments and let him know what Jordan really thinks about all these discussions by commenting on Basketball Society's IG post .
"MJ wouldn't give a s—t about this BS, he has never care for the goat talk and anything else…," Ron exclaimed.
MJ doesn't want to give LBJ an edge
Aside from saying that LeBron can still catch up with Mike's ring total, Brandon also mentioned that the relationship between the two basketball icons will be "enhanced" when James finally hangs up his sneakers, something he said is coming sooner rather than later.
However, for now, because Bron is still playing in the NBA, "Scoop B" says MJ doesn't want to give James the edge, especially since he is Jordan's closest competition in the greatest of all-time debate.
"Comparatively, when you look at LeBron and Michael, there's just so much being compared and contrasted," said Robinson. "When you're no longer seen as a threat, LeBron could win two more championships, whether in Los Angeles, whether he signs somewhere else, or whether he gets traded. LeBron's story is still being written. You don't want to give your competitor any type of advice to chase me, meaning Michael."
MJ is still a ruthless competitor today
Actually, what "Scoop B" said on the podcast wasn't something new. That's because during his much-talked-about appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" in March, King James explained that he does not have a relationship with MJ because he is still playing in the NBA.
"I think it's because I'm still playing," James told McAfee. "And MJ, we all know MJ. Even if you don't know him personally, he is one of the most ruthless competitors there is, and until I'm done and he doesn't have to look at me running up and down wearing the No. 23 and every time my name is mentioned, it's mentioned with his, it's like 'I don't fu—g talk to you.'"
It's crazy how far people go to compare Mike and Bron — so much so that they even have to scrutinize their personal relationship. However, just because they are not close or don't talk to each other doesn't mean there is something to discuss.
While James gives them fuel by answering questions, Jordan has never said anything about it because, as Harper said, he doesn't give a damn about these nonsense talks and isn't interested in the GOAT debate.
