MN Twins Star Pitching Prospect Shut Down
The regular season is essentially a wrap for the Minnesota Twins at this point. Sure they still have to play the games , but the results won’t hold much weight.
After the trade deadline teardown the farm system was infused with a significant amount of new talent. So much so that the organization ranked just out of the top spot in a recent MLB Pipeline update.
It’s not all new prospects that highlight the rankings though. There is also a significant amount of holdover talent. Young pitching prospect Charlee Soto may be among the most exciting.

Charlee Soto shut down for Minnesota Twins
A first round pick by the MN Twins in 2023, Charlee Soto made his High-A pitching debut this season. The 19-year-old was pushed to Cedar Rapids after 74 innings at Low-A Fort Myers. Unfortunately he hasn’t pitched since April 17, and his season is now officially over.
In three starts for the Kernels, Soto posted a 1.38 ERA . He allowed just two runs on nine hits across 13 innings. Soto showed a level of dominance against overmatched hitters by posting a 15/4 K/BB.
The original diagnosis for Soto was a right triceps strain. He landed on the injured list at the end of April and was transferred to the 60-day injured list on June 17.
Given his youth, there are a wide range of opinions on Soto. ESPN baseball insider Kiley McDaniel just completed a recent re-rank of the top 10 prospects for each franchise . He is among the highest on Soto and ranked him fifth in the Twins organization.
When right, Soto throws a triple-digit fastball and pairs the offering with multiple solid off-speed pitches. He’s still a raw talent that will need to be developed. More importantly he needs to stay healthy and show a level of durability that is now in question.

2026 could be a big season for Soto if he can return to the mound healthy in Spring Training. Minnesota has plenty of future holes in their starting rotation and the more potential options that present themselves the better.
