If there has been a constant for the Minnesota Vikings this season it has been that they are injured. Kevin O'Connell has stepped up to the podium following games and delivered bad news after bad news.
Despite looking like they made it through a victory against the Cincinnati Bengals healthy, it was revealed that Donovan Jackson underwent wrist surgery and will miss time. Now with a trip to Europe on deck , the latest injury update surrounds veteran Andrew Van Ginkel .
Andrew Van Ginkel dealing with training camp injury for MN Vikings
During training camp Andrew Van Ginkel missed time with a neck injury . He missed the loss against Atlanta in Week 2 after suffering a Week 1 concussion against the Chicago Bears . Head coach Kevin O'Connell revealed that his edge rusher will miss practice time this week as he deals with lingering effects from that neck injury.

"He came out of the game feeling good. Then he just has had some residual issues, more tied to, probably the neck I would say. He's out of the protocol and cleared that through the medical process last week. Now we're just working through what his week is gonna look like leading into Sunday."
Van Ginkel is for sure going to miss practice on Wednesday for the Minnesota Vikings. The team will then fly overseas to hit the ground in Dublin prior to the Sunday title against the Pittsburgh Steelers . It remains to be seen if he will get a full or limited practice in prior to the game.
Through two games this season, Van Ginkel has a pair of sacks and seven tackles . He also has a quarterback hit and two tackles for loss. As the edge rusher opposite Jonathan Greenard , Van Ginkel has helped to create a formidable front seven for Brian Flores' defense.
If Van Ginkel is unable to go, as was the case in Week 2, then Dallas Turner will again be expected to step up and provide additional reps. Turner has a single sack this season along with nine tackles, two quarterback hits, and one tackle for loss.
Veterans return for Minnesota Vikings offensive line
Week 3 was the 2025 debut of Christian Darrisaw on the Vikings offensive line. His presence didn't complete the group with center Ryan Kelly dealing with a concussion. Now Kelly, and Darrisaw's backup Justin Skule , are both cleared to return for Minnesota.

"Ryan Kelly and Justin Skule will be full participants today. Jonathan Allen will get a veteran rest day. Javon Hargrave and Andrew Van Ginkel, we'll hold out today. We're hoping to work them back in as the week goes on."
Both Kelly and Skule were dealing with concussions. It's good to see each miss just a single week and be cleared to resume participation. In Kelly's absence the Vikings started Michael Jurgens as their center. Quarterback Carson Wentz will work with the veteran Kelly this week to develop chemistry and a cadence prior to Sunday's game.
Kelly's addition to the offense line was a big one this offseason. He took over for the ever-problematic Garrett Bradbury , and immediately drove up the water level for the group as a whole.
Among the other names O'Connell mentioned, it would be great to see Javon Hargrave return before the week is over so that he isn't in danger of missing any time either.
