National analyst tabs veteran Oregon transfer as surprise impact player in 2025
The main issue the Oregon Ducks faced this spring was replacing their exorbitant number of departing veterans. They had 10 players selected in this year’s NFL draft, partnered with a bunch more who signed elsewhere as undrafted free agents.
The program still has some work to do to fill out the rest of the roster, but they’ve already acquired some important pieces for this season. Among those is cornerback Theran Johnson who joins the Ducks after four seasons with the Northwestern Wildcats .
David Kenyon of Bleacher Report recently ranked the most underrated impact transfers and the defensive back made the list.
Johnson comes to Eugene via the transfer portal as a player who has showed a steady improvement in each of his collegiate seasons. Over the last couple years, he has evolved into a ballhawk who will certainly mesh well with players in the Oregon secondary with similar skillsets like Dillon Thieneman.
Across the last two seasons, Johnson has combined for three interceptions and 15 passes defensed. He was always considered a good player, but he should improve even more being surrounded by much better talent with the Ducks.
