Notre Dame, Marcus Freeman Trending Towards Landing Elite Running Back
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and head coach Marcus Freeman were one win away from winning a national championship last season. Heading into the future, Freeman is looking to build a team that can compete year after year.
In order to do that, Notre Dame will need to continue recruiting at an elite level and bringing in talent via the NCAA transfer portal.
Freeman has established a tough mentality on both sides of the football. Offensively, the team has run through the ground game and supplemented it with a solid all-around aerial attack.
To that end, the Fighting Irish have been working on adding an elite talent at the position in the 2026 recruiting class.
Javian Osborne, a four-star recruiting in the 2026 class, has quite a few programs competing for his commitment. However, Notre Dame is in a great place at this point in time.
According to On3 Sports , the Fighting Irish currently have a 70.1% chance of landing Osborne. Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns are in second with a 23.8% chance and the Michigan Wolverines are being given a 1.5% chance.
Osborne is ranked as the No. 8 running back in the class and the No. 106 overall player in the nation. He is also ranked as the No. 14 prospect coming out of the state of Texas.
Hailing from Forney High School in Forney, Texas, Osborne stands at 5-foot-9 and 195 pounds. Plenty of other high-profile programs have shown interest in him past Notre Dame, Texas, and Michigan.
Among those other teams are Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida State, USC, Alabama, and Oregon.
There is no current timetable for when Osborne could make his choice, but the Fighting Irish have to be feeling good about their chances.
