Heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, NFL teams couldn't say enough good things about an elite running back prospect: Boise State's Ashton Jeanty.
When next April rolls around, there will be another player at the same position who will garner similar reviews: Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love.
Granted, Love may not be the top-five level of prospect Jeanty was last season (he went No. 6 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders, but was No. 3 overall on my board), but the Fighting Irish's offensive superstar has the kind of explosiveness, versatility, and big-play potential that should make him a first-round lock.
That skill set was on full display Saturday against Arkansas, as Love found the end zone four times to spearhead a blowout victory on the road against the Razorbacks.
Love scored a pair of touchdowns on the ground, but his pair of receiving scores were more impressive. This was a short one, but Love didn't need much space to create a highlight-reel moment with this missed tackle before waltzing into the end zone:
Then came this one, with Love showing off his ability to hit that extra gear in the open field and pull away from the defense:
Love turned 19 touches into 127 yards of total offense, accounting for nearly half of Notre Dame's 56 points.
After totaling 19 touchdowns last season, Love now has eight scores through the first four games of his 2025 campaign.
There are some intriguing prospects elsewhere in the country among the running backs eligible for the 2026 NFL Draft, but heading into the season, none of them were getting more hype than Love after what we saw from him last season as the Irish marched all the way to the national title game.
Everything we've seen from Love so far this season has backed up those high expectations, and if he keeps delivering these kinds of do-it-all performances, it won't be surprising when he's the first running back off the board come April, potentially as a top-20 selection.
