Ohio State guard John Mobley Jr. has announced his return for his sophomore year.
As a freshman, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound native of central Ohio averaged 13 points per game and shot 38.5% (77 for 200) from 3-point range. He moved into the starting lineup when fifth-year guard Meechie Johnson Jr. left the team for personal reasons after 10 games and remained a fixture there, averaging 27.8 minutes per game and starting 22 of Ohio State's 32 games.

Mobley is the first member of the 2024-25 roster to announce his intention to return. The Buckeyes have lost junior Evan Mahaffey and sophomore Austin Parks to the transfer portal.

His announcement features both the Ohio State logo and the logo for THE Foundation, the primary collective serving both the men's basketball and football programs .
Mobley made the second-most 3-pointers of any Big Ten player, and his 77 made 3-pointers are second-most for a freshman in Ohio State history behind only D'Angelo Russell, who hit 95 in 2014-15. He began his career by hitting all four of his 3-point attempts in a win against Texas in Las Vegas, the first of which was from the logo encompassing center court.
