Brandon Noel posted his first double-double at Ohio State and the Buckeyes (3-0) overcame a sluggish start to blast past visiting Appalachian State 75-53 on Nov. 11 at Value City Arena.
With 8:12 left in the first half, Ohio State coach Jake Diebler called timeout to stop an 8-2 run that had the Mountaineers ahead 22-10. It didn't immediately pay dividends, but when Appalachian State called timeout with 5:25 left and its lead at 25-15, it was all Buckeyes from there.

Ohio State closed the half on a 15-0 run, took a 30-25 lead into the break and blew the game open in the second half against the Mountaineers (2-2). The Buckeyes held Appalachian State without scoring for a 6:39 run that encompassed the first and second half, then kept the visitors scoreless from 15:35-8:18 during the second half.
During that scoreless stretch, Ohio State outscored Appalachian State 16-0 in 7:17 to take a 57-32 lead and render the rest of the game academic.
Without Devin Royal (hip), the Buckeyes got 17 points and 11 rebounds from Noel and 16 points from John Mobley Jr., who was listed as questionable on the official pregame availability report.

The Wright State transfer pulled down a Bruce Thornton free-throw miss for his 10th rebound of the game, and with the possession extended he took a pass from Christoph Tilly and slammed it home to give him 15 points.

He's up to 17 and 11 and Ohio State leads 68-41 with four minutes to play.
Ohio State holds Appalachian State scoreless for more than seven minutes
The Buckeyes hold a 57-35 lead with 8:16 left, and it took a 3-pointer from Luke Wilson to break a 16-0 run from Ohio State. It also marked the first points in 7:17 for the Mountaineers.
Amare Bynum's alley-oop dunk forces Appalachian State timeout
Ohio State continues to pull away from the Mountaineers, and freshman Amare Bynum's alley-oop dunk from Bruce Thornton forced an Appalachian State timeout with 12:15 left and the Buckeyes ahead 51-32.

Appalachian State led 22-10 with 8:13 left in the first half. Since then, the Buckeyes have outscored the Mountaineers 41-10. Right now, it's a 10-0 run and a 21-7 run to open the second half.
Ohio State pushes lead into double digits
Ahead 30-25 at halftime, Ohio State is on a 7-0 run with a chance for one more at the first media timeout. With exactly 16 minutes to play, Bruce Thornton drew a foul while hitting a shot from near the left block. He'll shoot a free throw after the timeout with the Buckeyes ahead 40-29.
Ohio State has just one turnover so far.

Ohio State was 1 for 15 from 3-point range until the buzzer sounded and Bruce Thornton's attempt from the left corner swished through the net to cap a 20-3 run and give the Buckeyes a 30-25 lead against Appalachian State.
The Mountaineers led by as many as 12, but Ohio State's 15-0 run to close the half helped erase that. The Buckeyes are holding the visitors to 33.3% shooting and have forced two of their three leading scorers into three first-half fouls.
Colin White, in his first career start, has helped force two first-half turnovers and has at least one other deflection. Appalachian State did not score for the final 5:25 of the half.

Ohio State within six as Colin White forces turnover
The Buckeyes have not led all game, but they are within 25-19 with 3:59 left after Colin White forced Appalachian State leading scorer Kasen Jennings into a travel on his team's last possession.
Ohio State's offense has started to get things moving. The Buckeyes have scored on four straight possessions and are on a 9-3 run since falling behind 22-10.
Mountaineers call timeout with double-digit lead at Ohio State
Appalachian State has scored on five of its last six possessions and leads Ohio State 25-15 with 5:25 left. Brandon Noel has scored five straight points for the Buckeyes including a 3-pointer that was Ohio State's first of the game on 12 attempts.

Appalachian State run forces Ohio State timeout
The Mountaineers have scored on three straight possessions, two of which were open 3-pointers from Andrin Njock, and Buckeyes coach Jake Diebler called timeout with 8:12 left in the half and Appalachian State ahead 22-10.
The Buckeyes have been able to get nothing going offensively. Ohio State is 4 for 20 (20.0%) from the floor and has missed all 11 of its 3-point attempts. Christoph Tilly has four of them. Appalachian State is up to 8 for 19 (42.1%) from the floor.
Shots still not falling for Ohio State
The Buckeyes have not led against the Mountaineers and trail 17-10 with nine minutes left in the half thanks in part to a brutal start from the field. Ohio State is 4 for 19 overall and has missed all 10 of its 3-point attempts.

Cold shooting start for Ohio State
Ohio State made its first eight shots in the season opener and its first seven in the second game against Purdue Fort Wayne. Against Appalachian State, it's been the opposite. The Buckeyes are 1 for 8 from the floor and have missed all five of their 3-point shots.
Appalachian State leads 5-2 at the first media timeout with 15:36 to play.
John Mobley Jr. remains in starting lineup for Ohio State, Colin White makes first career start

White has played 11:10 total this season and has made one two-point shot on his only attempt so far. He missed nearly the entire offseason due to an injury suffered last season .
John Mobley Jr, listed as questionable, warming up fine for Ohio State
The Buckeyes will be without Devin Royal tonight against the Mountaineers, but it looks like that will be the only change to the starting lineup. Sophomore guard John Mobley Jr., who is averaging 17.5 points per game and has attempted a team-high 17 3-pointers, has looked fully active during warmups and does not appear to be limited.

The Buckeyes will be shorthanded against the Mountaineers. Junior wing Devin Royal will miss the game as he recovers from a hip injury that limited him against Purdue Fort Wayne and sophomore guard John Mobley Jr. is listed as questionable.
