With the 22nd pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers select North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton.
Hampton is a bruising back with top-level long speed, who will bring an explosive element to a Chargers offense that needs it, especially at running back. Even after signing Najee Harris in free agency, the Chargers needed to find a home run hitter out of the backfield, a quality that Hampton has in spades.
With an offensive line featuring newly acquired Mekhi Becton, Joe Alt, and Rashawn Slater, Hampton should become an impact player for the Chargers offense early in his career.

Hampton is a top-tier athlete at running back, boasting a 9.70 Relative Athletic Score coming out of the combine. Standing at 5-11 and weighing 223 pounds, Hampton recorded a 4.46 40-yard dash and tacked on a 38-inch vertical jump as well.
He utilizes his athleticism effectively on the field, combining his size with explosive speed to get upfield in a hurry, running through any defenders in his way. He merges this long speed and explosiveness with high-level vision and patience, enabling him to hit the hole and get to the end zone.
Hampton may not possess the lateral movement ability of some backs in the draft, but he makes up for it with his ability to shed tacklers at the point of attack and keep his legs churning to gain extra yards.
His effort and conditioning allow him to tire defenses out, and he is often seen blowing through weary defenders late in games.
He offers tons of experience catching the ball out of the backfield as well, with only two drops on 80 career targets.
Hampton excels as a pass protector, with the strength and motor to meet rushers at the point of attack and give his quarterback extra time in the pocket.
Overall, Hampton will serve as an explosive workhorse for the Chargers' run-heavy offense and has Offensive Rookie of the Year potential.
