Oregon, Dan Lanning Dealt Concerning Update on 5-Star Recruit
Oregon, Dan Lanning Dealt Concerning Update on 5-Star Recruit originally appeared on Athlon Sports .
Led by head coach Dan Lanning, the Oregon Ducks have produced an amazing 2026 recruiting class , ranking No. 2 in the Big Ten and No. 3 in the nation with 17 total commitments.
The biggest piece to that group is offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho, whom Rivals Industry Rankings places as a five-star recruit, the No. 2 player at his position and the No. 6 player in the nation.
However, in today's age of college football, a simple commitment is never enough, and it's clear the pass protector is still eyeing other options.
Iheanacho Set to Visit Other Programs
In an article from Rivals' Chad Simmons, Iheanacho revealed that despite being committed to Oregon, he will still be visiting several other programs this season.
“Before I committed to Oregon, I had already planned to be at LSU for the Florida game, so I will honor that,” Iheanacho said. “I will probably go to a Maryland game and I am planning to be at the Penn State White Out game when they play Oregon."
What makes this development especially significant is that Penn State and LSU were two of the four finalists for the pass protector's original commitment, which gives the Ducks even more to worry about.
Oregon Can't Afford to Lose Iheanacho
Potentially losing an elite five-star recruit is never a good feeling, but it would only be amplified by Oregon's minimal success when it comes to landing offensive linemen in the 2026 class.
In fact, Lanning has failed to bring in any more offensive tackles so far, with the only other offensive lineman committed to Oregon being four-star IOL Tommy Tofi and three-star IOL Koloi Keli.
The Ducks still sit in a good place with Iheanacho, though, as he also told Simmons, "I feel as good as I’ve ever felt about Oregon. The communication is as good as it’s ever been."
