- Oregon football spring game score, highlights: Ducks showcase new-look roster
The Oregon Ducks will take the field at Autzen Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Eugene for the annual spring game, showcasing a new-look team that brings in new starters at several key positions across the roster.
While former Ducks are having success in the NFL draft , the current roster in Eugene is focused on showing all of the hard work that they've put in this offseason and displaying where they have improved. Fans are focused on seeing Dante Moore, Austin Novosad, Dillon Thieneman, Bear Alexander, Dakorien Moore and Makhi Hughes among others in the game.
Throughout the action, we will keep fans up to date on notable plays, big scores and all of the things you need to know. Follow along!
The Combat Ducks tried to pull off the comeback with 10 points in the fourth quarter, but a nice touchdown from the Fighting Ducks in the final minutes put them back on top. Dante Moore tried to pull off a final drive to take the lead, but he threw an INT on the last play of the game.
That will be the end of live updates, as well. Heading down to the field for the final quarter of action. Will post a final score update after the game. Thanks for following along.
At long last, Dante Moore's team reached the end zone. After a beautiful pitch and catch to Jurrion Dickey down the left sideline, Jay Harris punched it in for a touchdown.
Another stalled drive and another punt. Copy, paste.
After some nice running from Noah Whittington, a sack on third down caused the Combat Ducks to punt. Dante Moore has not been able to get much going all day.
Redshirt freshman cornerback Ify Obidegwu forced a fumble from running back Jay Harris. Blake Purchase picked it up and took it the length of the field for a touchdown.
It was an uninspiring first half if you're looking for offensive production. However, the Ducks' defense looked very solid, especially on the line.
A couple of stalled-out plays led to a 46-yard field goal from Atticus Sappington, which sailed wide.
A pair of sacks from Blake Purchase on Akili Smith Jr. led to a punt from the Combat Ducks. Ross James shanked the punt, which went 13 yards. Prime scoring opportunity for Austin Novosad and the Fighting Ducks.
It was a much better offensive drive for the Fighting Ducks, led by Luke Moga, but it still ended in a punt. Moga looked great, though, slinging the ball around and looking confident.
With Brock Thomas under center, the Combat Ducks converted one fourth down, but ultimately punted after Elijah Rushing penetrated the backfield for a sack on third down.
With Luke Moga under center, the Fighting Ducks drove to the 10-yard line, but the drive stalled out and they had to settle for a field goal, which was knocked through by Andrew Boyle.
It was a fast first quarter with the running clock. Both offenses looked good to start. Austin Novosad had the better quarter of play with a couple of nice deep balls, one of which went to Dakorien Moore. While Dante Moore showed flashes, the Combat Ducks' offense was unable to get into the endzone.
After a 7-yard run on first down from Jay Harris, back-to-back incomplete passes from Dante Moore led to another punt.
After a couple of nice plays, particularly from Da'Jaun Riggs and Jamari Johnson, the white team had to punt away to the Combat Ducks.
The drive from Dante Moore and the Combat Ducks looked promising to start, with a 25-yard completion to Kenyon Sadiq on the first play, but it eventually stalled out, and they had to settle for a field goal. Freshman Gage Huryich hit a 47-yarder.
Austin Novosad led a great drive for the white team, hitting Dakorien Moore on a deep pass down the right sideline for a massive gain. It was an impressive grab for the true freshman, who was well-covered by Theran Johnson. A couple of plays later, RB Jayden Limar took a handoff up the middle and went 31 yards untouched for the score.
A majority of Oregon's roster appears to be present and participating in pregame action ahead of the spring game.
Notably, projected starting linebacker Devon Jackson and defensive lineman Aydin Breland are in street clothes. Jackson is not wearing a boot or any casts/wraps on his wrists, but he will not be playing on Saturday. Breland is sporting a walking boot on his right leg.
Projected starting cornerback Jahlil Florence is also in a red non-contact jersey, but is in full pads going through warm-ups.
Another notable injury update: Redshirt freshman TE Roger Saleapaga is in full pads, despite suffering a significant knee injury late in the 2024 season. Saleapaga did not partake in many warm-ups, but appears to be farther along in his recovery than anticipated.
