Not even an hour following the best performance of his NFL career, Carolina Panthers running back Rico Dowdle let us know that his sights are already set on his next opponent.
Dowdle, in place of an injured Chuba Hubbard , paced the Panthers to a 27-24 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The 27-year-old rushed for a career-high 206 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries, helping drag Carolina out from what was once a 17-0 deficit.
And now, with the Dolphins suffering in his wake, Dowdle is looking forward to Week 6—where he'll see his former team, the Dallas Cowboys , come into Bank of America Stadium.
Dallas signed Dowdle, a Daffney, S.C. native and University of South Carolina product, as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He went on to play five seasons for the Cowboys, with his final year resulting in 1,079 rushing yards.
Dowdle did not return to Dallas following his career campaign, signing with Carolina on a one-year deal this past spring.
