Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes endured a difficult day on the football field as the Buffalo Bills defeated the Chiefs 28-21 on Sunday.

The Chiefs fell to 5-4 and currently sit third place in the AFC West.

As co-owners of the Kansas City Current, Patrick and Brittany Mahomes received better news about the league leaders on NWSL Decision Day.

KC Current defeated the San Diego Wave 2-1 at CPKC Stadium to cap a historic season. The current turned their home field into a fortress by finishing the 2025 NWSL season unbeaten at home.

The Current finished the NWSL regular season with an all-time best 65 points, breaking the previous record of 60 set by the Orlando Pride in 2024.

Kansas City ended their campaign with a record of 21-3-2. Remarkably, in 2,340 minutes of NWSL play, the Current trailed for just 120 minutes.

After Dudinha got the Wave ahead in the eighth minute, Debinha equalized for the Current in the 54th minute. Forward Nichelle Prince struck the game-winning goal in the 75th minute. It was the Current’s first comeback victory of the season.

Kansas City will host Gotham FC in the first round of the NWSL playoffs.
