The Atlanta Falcons are four days away from their 2025 NFL season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , and there's still a bit of uncertainty regarding wide receiver Darnell Mooney's status for Week 1. Head coach Raheem Morris gave another vague update on Mooney's shoulder injury before Wednesday's practice.
"If he's ready to go, he's ready to go," Morris said of Mooney's availability for Week 1. "If not, he won't be."
On the bright side, Morris said Mooney was "running around a little bit" during the Falcons ' last practice session. but the veteran receiver is still "day-to-day" heading into Sunday's NFC South clash.
The Falcons will look to Ray-Ray McCloud and Casey Washington to step up if Mooney has to sit out for the season opener. McCloud had a breakout season last year as Atlanta's starting slot receiver.
After failing to top 300 receiving yards in a season over his first six years in the league, McCloud posted a career-high 686 receiving yards on 62 catches in 2024. Washington was selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL draft out of Illinois and has been filling in for Mooney throughout training camp.
Check out the team's updated depth chart and starting lineups ahead of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
