Raiders make 3 roster moves including sending Kolton Miller to IR

Tuesday the Raiders got some bad news. Or rather they got the news they were hoping they would not get when Kolton Miller went down late in Sunday's loss to the Bears . Not only does the veteran left tackle have a high ankle sprain, but he also has a hairline fracture.

The ankle sprain would likely have meant he missed several weeks, but that along with the hairline fracture had the team opt to send him to injured reserve. This means he will miss at least the next four games.

In a corresponding move, the Raiders signed undrafted rookie tight end Carter Runyon to the active roster.

Runyon was elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's game, making for his first NFL game appearance. He appeared solely on special teams. The undrafted free agent out of Towson impressed in training camp and preseason, earning him a spot on the practice squad. Now he becomes the first undrafted rookie this season to land a spot on the Raiders active roster.

Replacing Runyon's spot on the practice squad is tackle Leroy Watson IV. The third-year tackle has appeared in 11 games with four starts for the Browns and Titans over the past two seasons. He spent the offseason and training camp with the Vikings and didn't make the roster out of camp.

Watson gives the team some needed depth at tackle with Miller's loss. Currently the next man up at tackle is Stone Forsythe followed by rookie Charles Grant. The third round pick has been inactive for every game this season. Watson will join Dalton Wagner on the practice squad.
