Ravens' Cornerback Health Labeled Biggest Training Camp Storyline originally appeared on Athlon Sports .
The Baltimore Ravens hope to take a step forward in 2025 after falling short of the Super Bowl last season.
A Divisional Round loss to the Buffalo Bills sent the Ravens home early last year, and general manager Eric DeCosta has made significant changes in hopes of a deeper run.
One of the biggest moves was the addition of cornerback Jaire Alexander to the secondary.
He's one of the best in the business when he's healthy. ... WHEN he's healthy.
The former Louisville Cardinals defender has dealt with injuries recently. Over the past two years, Alexander has played in just 14 total regular-season games due to numerous injuries, including groin, back, shoulder and knee issues.
As the Ravens kick off training camp, The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec believes Alexander is the biggest storyline to monitor.
"For the hype to be justified, Alexander needs to stay healthy," Zrebiec wrote . "The 28-year-old has missed 20 of 34 regular-season games over the past two years. If he's anywhere close to his pre-injury form, the Ravens have a steal and perhaps the best secondary in football. Being able to match up in the secondary with Alexander, fellow corners Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins , and versatile safeties Kyle Hamilton and Malaki Starks could take Baltimore's defense to another level.
"However, a big part of that is Alexander staying healthy and fitting in with his new team."
He missed the Packers ' final eight games of 2024, including their wild-card round loss to the Philadelphia Eagles . Across seven playoff games, he has posted 28 tackles, three interceptions and five pass breakups.
That's the Jaire Alexander that the Ravens need in 2025.
