CRANBERRY —The Pittsburgh Penguins are likely getting a pillar of their lineup back Saturday for their game against the New York Rangers .
Bryan Rust will return, probably.
The player was coy in the locker room following the Penguins' optional morning skate Saturday.
"You'll have to wait and see," he responded with a grin.
After suffering a lower-body injury while blocking a shot in the preseason, Rust, 32, has not played in a couple of weeks and missed the first two regular-season games.
Penguins coach Dan Muse was more specific regarding the process but provided no more insight as to whether Rust will play.
"There are some conversations still to be had this afternoon … With a guy like Rusty, we want to take our time. We don't want to rush him back," Muse said.
Last season, Rust scored a career-high 31 goals and was the subject of frequent trade speculation over the summer, but he has spent his entire 11-year career with the Penguins.
All indications that Rust will play were positive, but the final determination won't be made until closer to game time.
